EN12999 Revision - Update

The Draft for Public Comment phase of the latest revision to EN12999 (the European product design Standard for loader cranes) has now been concluded.

The Draft contained amendments covering a range of areas, including safety systems on remote controls, stability testing, and improved mapping against the Essential Health and Safety Requirements of the Machinery Directive.

ALLMI Technical Manager, Keith Silvester, comments “We offered all members a copy of the new Draft and the level of engagement was extremely positive. The ALLMI Technical Standards Committee considered all comments from members prior to providing ALLMI’s feedback to BSI. It also subsequently reviewed feedback received from across Europe in advance of the WG18 (the CEN Working Group responsible for the Standard’s development) comments resolution meeting held in June, at which an ALLMI delegate represented the UK’s interests.”

He continues “There is further work to be done by WG18, but the aim is for the new Standard to be ready for publication in the first half of 2020.”
