Module 1: Course Introduction

Introduction to ALLMI, its history and objectives. An overview of the course modules, aims and objectives, as well as the assessments to be undertaken.

Module 2: Legislation

Legislation affecting lorry loaders, with emphasis on the role of the Thorough Examiner. The Standards that provide guidance on how to comply with the law.

Module 3:  Safety Considerations

Key safety principles when preparing for, and carrying out, thorough examination and testing.

Module 4:  Documentation

Documents that should be checked prior to carrying out thorough examination and testing.

Module 5:  Thorough Examination - Visual Inspection

Visual inspection as part of a thorough examination.

Module 6:  Thorough Examination - Function Check

Checking the function of relevant items as part of a thorough examination.

Module 7:  Calibration Check

How to calculate the test weight for, and undertake, a Calibration Check.

Module 8:  Overload Test

How to calculate the test weight for, and undertake, an Overload Test.

Module 9:  Stability Test

How to calculate the test weight for, and undertake, a Stability Test.

Module 10:  Dynamic Test

How to calculate the test weight for, and undertake, a Dynamic Test.

Module 11:  Post Test Thorough Examination

Checks to make as the thorough examination progresses and once testing has been completed.

Module 12:  Signing Off

Completion of the Report of Thorough Examination and testing documentation, and how to report and record defects.

Module 13:  Practical Session

Taking what has been learnt in the theory modules and applying it to practical scenarios.

Module 14:  Assessments

Delivery of the assessments, both theoretical and practical.

Module 15:  Final Administration & Candidate Feedback

Preparing course paperwork for submission to ALLMI and an opportunity for candidates to provide feedback on different elements of the course.
