Part 2-4 Revision Commences
The revision of BS7121 Part 2-4 ‘Code of practice for the safe use of cranes - Inspection, maintenance and thorough examination - Loader cranes’ has commenced. A BSI Panel of industry experts recently held its first meeting and several more are being scheduled for the coming months.
ALLMI Technical Manager, Keith Silvester, is the Convenor of the BSI Panel. He comments “The inaugural meeting was designed to establish the scope of the project, agree on a work schedule and allocate tasks where required. The entire revision process is expected to take between 12–18 months, although this will involve a two-month public consultation window, allowing all industry stakeholders to comment on the draft produced by the Panel.”
Look out for further updates and please contact ALLMI if you have any questions on this topic.
