Industry Careers Website Area

One of ALLMI’s key projects for 2018 will be the development of a new website area, aimed specifically at promoting careers in the lorry loader industry to young people.  The ‘Industry Careers’ area will also facilitate their contact with ALLMI member companies, as well as providing information for educators and careers advisors.

ALLMI CEO, Tom Wakefield, comments “The decision to create this new website area results from consulting with members, developing an understanding of the issues they face and then formulating a plan to address them.  This is a key process for ALLMI, as it enables us to serve the industry very effectively.”

The website area will provide young people with detailed information on the industry, educating them on the benefits of working with lorry loaders and the numerous roles they could undertake, as well as career paths they could follow.  Information will also be provided on ALLMI member companies that are keen to hear from them.  In addition, a facility will be developed for careers advisors / educators, helping them to establish links with ALLMI member companies on issues such as work experience, open days, etc.

ALLMI Chairman, Mark Rigby, adds “For the website area to be effective in achieving its objectives, we obviously need significant input from members regarding the required content.  For this reason, we recently concluded a survey asking for feedback on various topics, such as the industry roles members would like to see promoted to young people, and what the requirements of those roles are in terms of job content and desirable personal attributes, etc.  The survey also helped us to identify member company employees ideally suited to feature as one of the website area’s video ‘Profiles’ for a particular role, which will provide young people with more of an insight and give them inspiration by demonstrating what they could go on to achieve.”

He continues “Conducting the survey has been an invaluable and insightful process and, using the information gathered, we now look forward to taking the next step in this important project.”
