Professional Lorry Loader Training

Instructor Accreditation Print

ALLMI training accreditation is sought by instructors who wish to deliver ALLMI lorry loader training.

The benefits of ALLMI instructor accreditation include the following:

Compliance

The ALLMI scheme is fully compliant with the requirements of BS7121 Part 4: 2010 (the British Standard for lorry loaders) and is endorsed by the ALLMI / CPA Best Practice Guide (BPG) for the "Safe Use of Lorry Loaders".  The BPG is endorsed by the Safety Assessment Federation (SAFed), ConstructionSkills, the National Construction College, the Modular & Portable Building Association (MPBA) and the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), and it can be downloaded free of charge from the ALLMI website. Please click here.

HSEHSE Commended, Recognised by Build UK & Approved by CSCS

ALLMI enjoys an excellent reciprocal working relationship with the HSE. The HSE has input into many of ALLMI’s projects and standards and, in turn, ALLMI assists the HSE in communicating best practice and legislative requirements to industry. The ALLMI scheme was the only one of its kind to receive the HSE’s "Working in Partnership" commendation when these were issued.

The ALLMI lorry loader programme is also recognised by Build UK, as well as being approved by CSCS.

Specialist Training

ALLMI is the only accrediting body to specialise in lorry loader training and it delivers the only operator programme to be written by the lorry loader industry for the lorry loader industry. ALLMI’s training standards are developed and maintained by the ALLMI Training Committee, which consists of representatives from various UK loader crane manufacturers, importers, fleet owners and training companies, as well as the HSE.

Technical Information / Support

ALLMI provides unequalled and comprehensive technical and legislative support for its accredited instructor network, as well as all operators carrying the ALLMI card. Via the ALLMI Instructor Information Lines, ALLMI accredited instructors have direct access to each of the following manufacturers: Palfinger, Atlas, HMF and Fassi. In addition, instructors have access to advice and guidance via ALLMI’s full time technical staff, who have extensive industry experience. Instructors also receive regular technical bulletins, updates and guidance documents. No other accrediting body is able to offer such specialist advice and guidance in relation to the safe use of lorry loaders.

Course Documentation

The quality and standard of ALLMI's course documentation for both its instructors and operators cannot be rivalled. Instructors receive the ALLMI Instructor Manual, which contains the course content to be followed and the assessments to be administered when delivering operator training. Operators are issued with the ALLMI Operator Manual, which serves as a reference guide throughout their career.

Training Aids

Instructors are issued with the ALLMI Operator Course Presentation, which contains 91 PowerPoint slides designed to assist instructors in delivering the theoretical element of the course (also available in flip chart format).  Instructors are also provided with "The Safe Use of Lorry Loaders", a modular training DVD covering the most common applications and uses of lorry loaders, with a strong emphasis on basic operating skills and awareness of the associated hazards.

Refresher Training

ALLMI does not use NVQs or log books as part of its scheme, as it believes the most appropriate way to assist employers in determining competence is to administer refresher training and assessment on a periodic basis, as endorsed by Annex B, section 8.6 of BS7121 Part 4: 2010.

Demand

The ALLMI card is arguably the UK's most sought after lorry loader operator qualification.

Audit Trail

Due to the way in which the scheme is managed, the ALLMI programme supplies instructors and their customers with a comprehensive audit trail in relation to the training of operators, therefore providing essential support, should an accident occur involving lorry loader activities.

Slinger / Signaller Training

ALLMI has developed a comprehensive slinger / signaller training programme, which is available for accredited instructors to deliver.  This course is approved by CSCS.

Discounts on Training & ALLMI Products

ALLMI instructors receive a significant discount on the cost of the ALLMI Appointed Person course, which is the only accredited training programme of its kind in the UK to be dedicated exclusively to lorry loader lifting operations.  The course is fully compliant with the requirements of LOLER and BS7121 Part 4: 2010.  Instructors also receive a discount against the cost of the ALLMI Crane Supervisor course, as well as a range of ALLMI products including pre-operational check sheet pads / windscreen holders and training DVDs.

Website Facilities & Promotion

All instructors are promoted through the ALLMI website.  Promotion includes a listing of the instructor’s company contact details and also a link to their company website.  In addition, all instructors have access to the secure, password protected "Instructor Area" of the ALLMI website, which contains safety bulletins, product information, an Accident Library for instructors to utilise and copies of regulations relevant to lorry loaders.

Advertising Opportunities

Instructors (and member companies) have exclusive access to banner advertising opportunities via the ALLMI website and ALLMI’s quarterly E-Newsletter.

Enhanced Corporate Identity

The ALLMI name is associated with safety, standards and quality, whether it’s in relation to training, crane installations and service, or the running of vehicles.  Not only are instructors associated with ALLMI via its website promotion, but they are also able to utilise the ALLMI logo as part of their company’s livery.

Free Training Provider Mailshot Leaflets

ALLMI provides all accredited instructors with ALLMI training mailshot leaflets, which not only provide potential customers with all of the necessary information on ALLMI operator training, but also include a space for instructors to stamp their company contact details and so they can be used as an invaluable sales tool.

In order to become accredited, instructors must first successfully complete the ALLMI Instructor course. Please click here for further information on the ALLMI Instructor course.

In order to deliver the ALLMI Operator course, instructors must purchase the ALLMI Operator manuals from ALLMI. Every ALLMI trained operator must be issued with an Operator manual. The cost of the manual also covers the production of the operator’s certificate and identity card, as well as their registration on the ALLMI Operator Database. At the end of each training course the instructor sends to ALLMI a Training Assessment Report (this is taken from the ALLMI Operator manual) and the assessment paperwork. ALLMI then issues the certificates and identity cards to the instructor, which are then passed onto the candidate.

Every accredited instructor is audited at least once per year. This is part of ALLMI’s ongoing process to ensure that all instructors deliver training to the highest standard. The course is audited from start to completion against the standard set out within the Instructor manual. Accreditation and registration can be removed if standards are not upheld.
